While BEL has been alloted 559 acres in Palasamudram, Tungodu and Somendapalli villages, National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics ( NACEN) has been alloted 285 acres in the same villages. This is a welcome development for Anantapur district. BEL is expected to manufacture missiles at this facility.
Gorantla is located very close to the Andhra karnataka border and is on the highway connecting Bangalore to Anantapur. What is more interesting about the location is that this is very close to the Bangalore international airport and is just 50 kms away. Incidentally, even Bangalore city is also about a distance of 40 kms from the airport.
Andhra is planning to use this strategic location for industries, which practically comes with readymade infrastructure. Just like Sri City, in Chittor district, on the Tamil Nadu border which is also only 60 kms from Chennai City.
